Some friends of ours have asked us, several years in a row now, to join them in watching their daughter dance at a local annual dance competition.
During one break, a little girl who was a spectator in the audience approached one of the young male dancers and asked him to teach her to dance, which he readily did. It was endearing to watch how sweet he was with her and how excited she was to learn.
They danced for the sheer joy of it and their passion just oozed…
“The dance is a poem of which each movement is a word.” (-Mata Hari)

These drawings are charming. I can FEEL them moving. You really captured movement.
My Aunt and uncle have loved ballroom dancing all their married lives and they still go dancing at 87 and amost 90. I attribute the dancing & exercising to their being in such great shape at this age.
That's funny. My aunt and uncle love ballroom dancing, too. They were once heavily envolved with competitions, etc. Now they are older and still go dancing quite often. :)
My mother loves to dance. She has spent her life trying to teach me how. Alas, I didn't inherit her dance gene.
Your paintings are lovely. You captured the moment.
Thanks all--it really is fun to watch someone dancing if they're good!
Not only fun to watch, but I find the activity almost impossible to draw. All that moving around. You capture it well.....would love to know the thought process involved.
