“A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night, and in between he does what he wants to do.” (-Bob Dylan)

I’m fortunate that I like my job. My career has taken detours in different directions, and each job I’ve held has been interesting in its own way.

In my current job, I travel quite a bit. I’m all over the US for several months in the fall, as a recruiter for Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. I meet students, professors and Career Services personnel at colleges and universities all over the country and educate them about our graduate programs at the Nicholas School.

I’ve also learned a lot about traveling and living out of hotels for weeks on end. Planning and scheduling is a huge part of this job, but I’m fortunate that I get to see beautiful campuses, and sometimes, in the towns I visit, I get to see wonderful places and people as well. I work hard, but I learn every day as well.

“I am learning all the time. The tombstone will be my diploma.” (-Eartha Kitt)

Nice to know more about your job.
Love the painting & the photos. Where is that last picture taken. I'm trying to figure out what that is. Is it a walkway with plants on top. Its really an interesting shot. Nice post.

Thanks, all, for visiting.

Cris, that's at the Getty Center in LA--the museum buildings are wonderful, but the grounds are stunning, too.

GETTY CENTER.. Thank you!!! I have been trying to think of that name for days now... I was at the old center but never made it to the new one. I heard it was fantastic. This is so pretty.
I have a photo of me & a girlfriend standing in front of the Iris.. I think it was the Iris painting.. that Van Gogh painted, right after it was bought by them. They actually let us take photos in there.

Yes, they did, Cris--I took some photos inside and I was thrilled I could. I loved that place--really enjoyed it. If you ever get a chance to go to the new one, do it--it's beautiful!

It's hard to admit that I've not yet been to the Getty Center.....the "new one". I got to the old one just before it closed for renovation and comforted myself with the idea that Getty never saw it, either.

You're lucky to enjoy your job. Would that everyone could make that claim. I liked mine, too, but didn't realize how much work was involved until I retired.
