“Happiness is not having what you want. It’s wanting what you have.” (-Unknown)

Stage 2 of the office saga:

Well, the paint’s on the walls, the rug’s on the floor, and it’s time for the fun part: bringing out things to make the room have a heart: the artwork, photos and little pieces that have sentimental value…my favorite part. This room doesn't look anything like what I originally planned for it, but it's going to be fine...

This is my lamp that is small but will suit me well here at this desk, so it frees up space to do what needs doing…

And this is a bowl that I fell in love with at Marshall’s—it just spoke to me and it’s going to hold things I need close by.

Now, it’s my chance to look over all my old photos I love and prints I’ve saved to hang up, and start choosing what will go where. I’m primed! Stay tuned…

Curtains still not made…;((

I originally planned to create a soft, light blue and white office that would be soothing...not quite what happened, but it's going to be clean and organized, and I'm GOING to love it. Soon...promise...!

“The really happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery when on a detour.”

Hi! Just found your blog today. I love your paintings, the way you capture the object and translate them with watercolour is fascinating :D

Hey, it's looking good! And I love that opening quote.

Your Marshall's bowl is exquisite.

This looks fabulous. My favorite wall color is yellow. This looks cheery and bright and clean.
How come you didnt get the blue and white you were wanting? just curious.
I checked your blog early and nothing was there and I got busy and forgot to check again. I almost missed this wonderful post.
Will you paint in there? Is this an office or studio or both?
Love how it came together.
I miss stores like Marshalls. we live in a small town without those nice inexpensive wonderful stores.

I meant paint watercolors in there.. you already painted in there. :)))

Thanks all--yes, I will paint in here, Cris--I'll work and paint here. I just needed to reorganize all my Duke-related work stuff, and I took this opportunity to try to move in art related things here, too, so it's all in one place for the most part.

I didn't get the blue and white, because we had the yellow paint left over and I thought it would be crazy not to just use that paint since it's light and pretty anyway. Plus, by the time I matched a color that looked good on the wall, I'd never get it all done, and I have the clock ticking. I have to get this done and I'm already busy planning trip "stuff" and will be extremely busy as soon as August hits in a few days here. Finally, once I got those colored "bins" in here, to organize my things, it didn't really come together as a blue/white room! But I love those--they hold a ton of things.

Those bins really go with the yellow too.
Will you have time for blogging once you get busy with Duke stuff? You would be missed. :)

I'll still blog--I'm determined. It keeps me painting, too, so it's good exercise! thanks, Cris--you're so sweet to say that!

I have plans to build my own studio in our new house in the (hopefully) near future. Your studio is truly an inspiration. I added you as a link and I'll be back to visit often. Wonderful site. Thank you.

My first visit to your blog...I love the record of your world in watercolor....the floral paintings and especially the bed with fluffy pillows and white sheets!

Beautiful, bright, organized space...I'm a bit of a neat freak, so I need order in order to work, therefore your space is really appealing. Very nice.

Veronica, I had to laugh--I'm not exactly a neat freak--a clutter freak is more like it, but those bins hide a lot of "stuff!"

thanks, people. I really appreciate the encouragement as I get this room done! Can't wait--one more day should get the curtains done.

You are too VERY NEAT.
Look at that clean desk top!
I wish you'd list all the component parts and where we can get them...ahem :)
My desktop (a door) only looked like that when I bought it at the lumber store...sigh

thanks, all!

Carol, it's funny you said that, because when I was starting out, and thinking I wanted a soft blue and white room, I was planning to head to the flea market and find an old door to paint and use for a desk. I love those--they're wonderful! Then, I decided to use the table I had and got for $10 years ago when Eric was small. I'm glad I kept it, and it does look nice here. I had used it to eat at for years.
