Yesterday, Joe said he wanted to take me to lunch at our local art museum. His daughter had given him a gift certificate for a meal at the museum for a Christmas present, and he'd yet to use it, so...
He knew I’d been working diligently all day and all night recently. For weeks now, I’ve been planning my itinerary for months of upcoming trips, and even evenings, while I’ve been watching Michael Phelps do his Olympic thing, I’ve been simultaneously working at the computer until late every night.
So, we took a breather and put some nice clothes on, wandered around the museum for a bit, and ate a nice meal: Joe had a BLT on homemade tomato bread, and I had a wonderful salad of arugula, peach slices, spiced pecans and a smooth chevre cheese, tossed with a lovely vinaigrette. Then, we even indulged in dessert…Two desserts, to be specific.
Life is good...now it's back to work...

So very glad you took time from all your hard work to eat with a loved one and reflect and gather all these yummy images for us to see and you to paint.
What a stunning resto to have such seductive dishes to eat with your eyes and your palate.
Beautiful work, Sue...!
Merci for sharing this with us.
It is nice to take time out to relax and enjoy each others company...and a great meal. I've been keeping an eye on Michael Phelps too. The late nights are getting to me. : )
I concur COMPELTELY!

I have just gone for a week and 3 days WITHOUT ice cream =total darkness has ascended :(
But with a high school reunion looming, what can one do?
And no tiremesu is on the menu either :(
Woe is moi.
Your lunch looks divine.
I am with you in spirit (only).
And I love this homage to it.
Oh, this is making me so hungry! Lovely food! And great pallet plate, too. Art and beautiful food? A perfect day, in my little book.
How interesting. We took off for a nice salad lunch out yesterday too but instead of dressing up for a museum we went to Home depot to look around. hmmm not the same is it. LOL
Lovely painting & glad he got you out of the house for a bit. Hope plans are getting closer to being settled.
Thanks, folks!
Stevie, I'm a late night person so I'm ok staying up, but I have enjoyed the Olympics. Some of the usual traumas and drama that make me tear up, of course, but it's always interesting to see who does what. I'm in awe of them all.
Cris, I read your blog and saw that you went to Home Depot--I love Home Depot, though! So much good stuff there too--just a different KIND of good stuff! ;))
What a lovely respite. Aren't the museum restaurant plates wonderful? Perfect, in fact. You're a good multi-tasker, taking in the Olympic games while planning your itinerary. I always enjoy your blog and I'm especially fond of the whole idea of the ripple effect caused by the pebble in the water.
Yum...I love creme brulet and profiterols...and the presentation (including palette plates) is beautiful. Being the mother of two younger girls often makes it difficult to get out and enjoy myself with my husband. But I think you've just encouraged me to do it...thanks!
gosh, I just love the quotes on your blog! and your painting is so soft and delicate. Thanks for taking photos of your meal.... I'm drooling! What a nice well deserved break. (I want that artist palate plate!)
I've been up late watching the Olympics too. I just love seeing the events live... can't bear to see a rerun.
Jane, Veronica and Judy, thank you all so much!
Veronica, I admire you juggling all that! My son is raised, and I do remember how hard it was as a single parent with just one. I can't imagine juggling two! I don't know how my own mom did it with four of us! It really makes me appreciate her all the more...
