Weekend

When drudgery and care impose themselves,
Each request and promise a feather turned to brick,
Even the strong and stalwart plead for
Kind relief. What wise soul first decreed an
Ending to weekly trials? …with Sunday comics,
Naps and leisurely brunch…time to arrange flowers,
Dogs curled at your feet, and a stack of good books nearby.

(-M.A. Mohenraj)

Have a great weekend, everyone!

I love that introduction to the weekend! I have to google for M.A. Mahenraj, now! :-)

Enjoy your weekend!
(No curling up with a book for me,
but I won't complain, I am going to Bad Ischl, where the Emperor used to summer, maybe some reading lakeside, at Wolfgang Lake.)

I think I remember that wonderful watercolor. Might you have posted it on flickr before I even knew you? That's when I decided to keep an eye out for more of your work. It's wonderful, even if that's not the way it happened.

When people ask about our weekend, I always say we leave the weekends for younger people out in the world and we stay home, venturing out during the week.

I love this watercolor of the window...reminds me of the French countryside...also the quote from Mahenraj is so very soothing to the spirit.
I intend to spend a wonderful Sunday arranging all my wares and flowers from IKEA and the aarm market.
Bon week end, cher Sue...!

Thank you, Casey and Carol! I appreciate it. Incidentally, the poet is a woman, and she is Mary Anne Mohanraj! Isn't it a lovely poem?

I hope you had a lovely weekend too. A stack of books and leisurely day is my favorite way to spend a Sunday too.

About your paintings. Do you make a pencil sketch before you begin your studies or do you just put brush to paper? Their simplicity is deceptive I think. They are ever so much more difficult than you make them seem I believe. Brilliant though.

thanks, Stevie--I did have a great weekend--went to visit my father and sister's family in Georgia.

As for the paintings, I do both--many I just put brush to paper, and some I do a light outline for the image, and then sometimes I draw the whole thing out! So--sort of all of the above, I guess! It depends. You're kind--I'm learning, and I keep at it, anyway!
