"Three for the Mona Lisa" (-John Stone)

This is an old post, but I'm hoping that maybe I can visit the Allen Art museum at Oberlin College again today, after I finish up at the school.  I thought I'd share a wonderful poem and some images from my last trip to this beautiful place.    Above, my sketch of two tiny Chinese Tang Dynasty figurines that were behind glass shelves in the museum.  (If you look closely at the third photo below, you'll find them posing there in the corner for you!)

Three for the Mona Lisa:

1
It is not what she did
at 10 o'clock
last evening

accounts for the smile
It is
that she plans
to do it again

tonight.

2
Only the mouth
all those years
ever

letting on.

3
It's not the mouth
exactly

it's not the eyes
exactly either

it's not even
exactly a smile

But, whatever,
I second the motion

Have a wonderful, art-filled weekend, all!

Lovely poem, and painting! Do you get to go home for the weekend?

Thanks, Sharon!
No--I don't go home just yet...I will go home this coming Wednesday for a few days. Then right back out. I will have been gone 3 weeks-but that's much shorter than last year's schedule, so this is fine!

Oh what a lovely painting. It has so much movement. You actually feel like your swaying with them.
Love you quotes as usual. No art this weekend, but hopefully soon. Estate sale going very well tho, but I am pooped. :))

Hi Sue - such gorgeous pieces, thanks for sharing (I especially love the pendant). Have fun on your travels. Do you think you'll be able to do something next weekend? I am free either Friday or Saturday....let's try and plan something. XO Claudia

I saw the Mona Lisa and what surprised me was how small she actually is.

Oh how funny. I looked at these and thought.. wow they have movement and the scolled down and wondered how on earth my thoughts got down already. Then I realized this whole thing was a repeat. I STILL think it has movement. :))
