Some people just HAVE IT: a sense of style...that certain je ne sais quoi..
You know who they are. You could swathe them in paper towels, mummy-style, and somehow, they'd manage to look good, maybe fashioning a bow, tied loosely, and trailing off to the side.
What is it about them?... Did they learn this somewhere? I think not. They're born with it.
"STYLE--go ahead talking about style,You can tell where a man gets his style just
as you can tell where Pavlova got her legs
or Ty Cobb his batting eye.
Go on talking.
Only don't take my style away.
It's my face.
Maybe no good
but anyway, my face.
I talk with it, I sing with it, I see, taste and feel with it,
I know why I want to keep it.
Kill my style
and you break Pavlova's legs,
and you blind Ty Cobb's batting eye."
(--Carl Sandburg)

you HAVE IT Sue!!!!!!!!
You really do. I LOVE your watercolors.
I'm so glad you did this.
And I can't wait to see what you do at DD's workshop.
You'll make out like a bandid I know you will :)
You're the TOP!
If you can paint with tremendous style and flo and YOU do.
Well that's something beyond how you tie on a scarf or a roll of paper toweling in my book!
Lovely paintings Sue.
Some people have style in every little thing they do not just clothing. I agree with Carol. You have it!! :)
These are great--fun and elegant (especially that first one: that's how I always wanted to look ... didn't turn out that way, sadly).
And I agree some people do just have it, and it's for the rest of us to envy it!
These are great, Sue. I especially like the one at the top. Love the subtle way the paint flows from the gloves and decolletage into the skin tone. Well done! (I would make a muddy mess of that).
I agree with Jennifer-- that flow is lovely, and so are the calligraphic lines by her feet and her blowing skirt.
I love the way you include poetry into your posts. This one by Sandburg
resonates--I wish more people appreciated the individual style of each person.

Lovely Sue. Especially love the flow of the hair on the girl wearing the pants. I love that outfit too..
Hello Suzanne
So glad you visited my blog, which enabled me to visit you. This is beautiful watercolour painting. I do love your figurative poses. You capture much movement and character in a few brush strokes. Masterley.
I hope you will allow me to follow your work.
Regards
Your drawings continue to add pleasure to my day. The design sketches are stunning.
your design sketches are lovely!! very flowing and free. They look like they were fun to paint.
thanx to you too for dropping by my blog. I like all the style statement designs. But i think there are cases where people embrace styles by reading and trying out new things and at times they emerge out better than the ones who are born with it.
Thank you, everyone! You're most kind.
Anju, I think you're very right. Thanks for visiting and jotting me a note!
Mmm, wish I could be one of those, you know, just swathed in paoper towels!
such beauties sue!

Hey, how did I miss this post? The first sketch is absolutely dreamy, Sue! And it matches the lovely hue of the clematis on your sidebar.
Your watercolors are so direct and honest, no pretension.
You take each day and make it art.
Ah style...you either have it or you don't.
And you certainly do...bisous.
Thank you Ronell, Willow and Terrie. And Terrie, thanks again for catching the grammar! ;)) I appreciate it.
These are positively dreamy
You absolutely must have IT out the wazoo, Sue -- or you wouldn't be able to create such amazing works that have IT, too!
You all are very kind. I don't know about that, Laure! Thank you!
wonderful artwork, I really love them.
These are so beautifully loose and elegant - I love them!
