"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die." (--Thomas Campbell)

R.I.P. Patti Gregory.

Danny Gregory's wife died this past week:
While I never met her, she had a profound impact on me (as well as many people in the art world,) whether she realized it or not. Today, I'm feeling a heavy sadness for the loss of a beautiful woman, and I'm thinking of her husband Danny and his son Jack Tea.

Danny wrote Everyday Matters, a book that has inspired thousands of people to pick up a pencil, and create. He himself wrote it as a result of his own experiences with his wife's tragic accident some years ago. Art helped him to cope with what seemed an unbearable situation, and he shared his experience with the rest of us.

Danny's words of encouragement and passion for art have influenced me, and my condolences go out to him and his family.

Below is Danny and Patti's son, Jack Tea, and his poignant video about his family: Patti's accident impacted their immediate family, and as a result of Danny's book, so many others of us as well...

Beautiful thoughts for Patti and the loved ones in whose hearts she will live on. I'm on my way to Everyday Matters

Thanks so much, Suzanne, for this news and this lovely tribute to Patti.I did not know about her death. She has been such an inspiration to me, as well as have Danny and Jack. When people like those three have made such a difference to our lives, we just wish there were more that we could say except "I am so sorry."

I neve heard of her but I was looking at this book on line the other day for some reason. I am confused. Is this the second wife he has lost? Sad no matter.

Ok Cross out that last question. I listened to the video. I do remember reading about her accident when looking at that book. It came up on Amazon while looking at something else. How interesting it did at this time.

Cris, it's his only wife. Years ago, she collapsed in the NY subway and was left a paraplegic, and now, sadly, she has faced another tragedy, and has died too soon. Danny wrote several books about it and her accident inspired him to start drawing in his own life. That, in turn, has influenced so many others...

What a lovely tribute, Sue. I feel very, very sad, too, for Danny and his son Jack.

Thanks for this, Sue, I've been feeling so sad about this ever since I heard - and like you, I never knew her. But she and her family have had such an impact on my life.

If thoughts and prayers can heal, I surely hope these will help to add a touch of healing to lives already too burdened.

Lovely, Sue. This tragedy has weighed heavily on me since I heard about it over the weekend. Danny's impact on our lives as artists has been tremendous and you did wonderful job of expressing how sad we all feel for the family. Thanks.
