"The time to relax is when you don't have time for it." (--Sidney Harris)

Undecided Coffee Lover

Cappuccino and cafe latte vie
for my attention;
which one shall I drink?
If cream be hazelnut, pass latte by.
Crème de banana?
Drain that down the sink!
Organic brews are best by far, they sing
without chemical chorus,
and yet
they grind well.
South American or island beans bring
aromas, captivating songs for baristas.
I crave cacao, perhaps demitasse,
or espresso, maybe two
hot shots of Brazil?
I can't decide these things, I think I'll pass.
But wait! Oh, coffee is a bitter pill.
" What will you have today?" (I'm next in line!)
"Just the house brand, please, and
no cream."

(--Linda Goin)

Lovely painting. Shades of Carol & very charming. I wish it were passing my way somewhere on the trip.. all these sketchbooks will be taking... so I could see yours in person. Loved the poem too. I had to pass that on to a coffee loving friend. :)
Hope you're resting up. Safe passage on Tuesday.

More great sketchbook pages. I especially like the ribbing on the coffee cup and the colors you've used.
(Ten days to Ted Nuttall for me; there's an interview with in him in the summer 2010 Watercolor magazine.)
Happy trails!

How do you do that?!! I've received my Sketchbook and tried watercolor the fist page; the page looks awful all wrinkly and too yellow.. Well I guess I will get watercolor paper and add to my Sketchbook.

Your paintings look very good in this Sketchbook.

LOL poem! For me, there is no indecision: grande mocha, no fat, no whip. Period. But when it comes to tea -- I have at least a dozen in the cupboard!!!
Lovely painting of that unknown beverage.

What lovely cup and saucer, beautifully painted!

I agree with Sidney Harris! ;-)

Linda Goin's "Undecided Coffee Lover" reminds me of the coffee ordering scene in "LA Story".

Thanks, all!

Irina, believe me, in person, mine is very "beige" and buckled looking as well. It's awfu paper for watercolors, but for a sketchbook project, I'm just going to accept it the way it is. If I ddi this again, I think I'd replace watercolor paper for what's in it. Hope you have fun with it!

Fun "illustrative sketch," Sue, and I think I happen to be in the same category as Ms. Goin—house brand but with the cream!

Lovely page! Good luck on your travels!! Stay safe.
