"Too much pepper on my paprikash"*

Well, it's official:
This is the last slice of holiday pecan pie.

God knows we've had enough.  We had homemade pecan pie, homemade apple pie, pumpkin muffins, chocolate covered dried fruits, and finally, with the leftover turkey dinner we ate tonight, we broke down and picked up one of those Edwards pecan pies from the frozen section at the grocery store.

And it was just fine.

I spent a pleasant day today digging and planting tulip bulbs with pansies on top of them in beds,  so we'll have lots of color through the cold winter months here in NC.  It's become an annual ritual for me at Thanksgiving time, since I don't get time all fall to accomplish this, and it always feels so good to see those pops of color out there.

I'm sore all over now, but I know come spring, when those tulips rear their heads, I'll be so happy I did that.  I leave on Monday for Massachusetts, for my final trip of the fall.  I'm hoping for good weather, but it's the last trip, so surely I can handle whatever comes my way, oui?

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

"I would be proud to partake of your peeee-can piiiiiiiie..."

I'm glad you had a lovely day and feast by the sounds of it.

I keep forgetting to plant bulbs and regret it each year. Next year...honestly!

I hope it's a good last travel of the year and that everything unfolds with grace and ease. And then it's home for the holidays.

Pansies, poppies, primroses have been put into the Manor garden beds, but alas, no tulips.

Sounds pretty, Jane!

I don't forget the bulbs, Jeanette, I just never have time to do the damn planting until Thanksgiving. I'm never home. It feels good to get them in.

So funny! On Thursday I was at my friend lynn's house and we were quoting that movie all morning stirring the cranberries because she had indeed just made a pecan pie!

Hope you are enjoying your holiday weekend!

I was also inspired to finish my garden work by spending 4 hours taming the climbing roses! Yes, I am also sore all over, but glad to be done for the year! A belated Happy Thanksgiving!

Lovely post. I am so happy you had time to smell the 'peacan pie' this year :) and get your bulbs in. Have a safe last bit of your traveling. How is your sketch book coming along?

Wow! You were a busy bee! All I did was rake leaves off the top of the ground. And then they were back again the next morning. Have a good trip!

Sounds like your Thanksgiving was bountiful, as will be those tulips in the spring! I recognized that quote!!!

Thanks, everyone! Looking forward to next weekend!

Chris, I did get a good bit done, but I know you had company, too--I hope you enjoyed their visit!

Artist, yes--I so enjoyed the respite from the road. I'm almost done!

I adore that scene where Billy Crystal says PEEcan pie!

There's one lone piece left at the manor, with my name on it.
