"Choosing Shoes" (--Frida Wolfe)

"New shoes, new shoes,
red and pink and blue shoes.

Tell me, what would you choose,
If they'd let us buy?

Buckle shoes, bow shoes,
Pretty pointy-toe shoes,

Strappy, cappy low shoes;
Let's have some to try.

Bright shoes, white shoes,
Dandy-dance-by-night shoes,

Perhaps-a-little-tight shoes,
Like some?  So would I.

BUT

Flat shoes, fat shoes,
Stump-along-like-that shoes,
Wipe-them-on-the-mat shoes,
That's the sort they'll buy."

(--Frida Wolfe)

(Those last shoes are the ones I'm wearing today!  Nothing glamorous, but they sure are comfy.)

Pretty paintings make pretty shoes. I love them but have to wear the flat....some are not so frumpy, thankfully! Thanks for sharing.

Love the glamour you have achieved in the paintings of your high-heels.

So gorgeous! I once read "Shop till you drop then sit down and try on shoes." I've adopted it as a mantra.

My days of high heels are gone I fear but I do like your choice of shoe. :) I also love this poem. Great paintings to go with it. Did you do these on the road?

Thanks, all! I didn't choose any of these shoes excepting for the final one which I got on sale. Those heels are great fun to sketch, but I wouldn't be caught dead in them these days!

Wonderful post , Sue. I like my heels, really like my clogs but love, love, love my flip-flops.

And your shoes are sooooo cute!

I love the idea of high heels, and your paintings make them more tempting, but the only heels I can wear now are Cowboy boots with 2" riding heel! I'd have to go with the cute flats you bought too.

Well, you'd have to wear low shoes with all that traveling! I love these paintings! XO Claudia

I like low shoes. I think high heels are some sort of torture contraption and I truly can't understand why women go for them. Flats can be pretty too! Just look at your painting of them. Why does a long heel make for a prettier shoe? I think the "toppings" are what makes them like the little pouf on your flats there.

Sue, these are great! I'll take the ones in the fourth sketch on a Friday night and the shoes in last sketch every other day of the week:)

Though I couldn't walk in them, I'll take the red orange with the bow! Darling! Great paintings!
